theChessHive Official Rulebook This rulebook contains all the necessary guidelines and rules for participating in theChessHive Online Chess Tournament. Please read carefully and adhere to all the instructions to ensure a smooth and fair event.
General Information Event Name: theChessHive Entry Fee: ₹30 Platform: Chess.com Tournament Format: Three Phases (Qualifiers, Semifinals, Finals) Organizers: Contact information will be provided in the WhatsApp group.
Tournament Format • Phase 1: Qualifiers Groups: Players will be divided into groups of 16–17. Format: Swiss system with 3–5 rounds. Time Control: 10+0 (10 minutes per player, no increment). Top Players Advance: The best players from each group proceed to the semifinals.
• Phase 2: Semifinals Participants: Top players from the Qualifiers. Format: Knockout or round-robin. Schedule: Matches will be conducted over two days.
• Phase 3: Finals Participants: Top 2 players from the semifinals. Format: Best-of-3 matches. Winner: The player with the most wins in the final becomes the champion.
Behavior During Matches No external assistance or coaching is allowed. Players must maintain professionalism and avoid disruptive behavior. Disconnecting during a game without reconnection will result in a loss.
Attendance: Mandatory for all players scheduled to play that day.
Timings: The meeting link and schedule will be shared in the WhatsApp group daily.
Rules for Google Meet: Join on time. Keep your camera and microphone on when required. Follow the organizers’ instructions
Rescheduling Policy Players unable to participate in their scheduled match must inform the organizers 24 hours in advance. Rescheduling will only be allowed in exceptional cases and at the discretion of the organizers.
Fair Play Policy All players must follow Chess.com’s Fair Play Policy. Prohibited Actions: Using chess engines or software assistance. Seeking help from others during matches.
Monitoring: Chess.com’s fair play detection tools will be active for all matches.
Penalties for Cheating • First Offense: Match forfeiture.
• Second Offense: Disqualification from the tournament and a permanent ban from future events.
Daily Schedule Match Time: Matches will be scheduled and announced in the WhatsApp group. Matches per Day: 16–17 players will compete daily. Google Meet Timing: 30 minutes before the first match of the day.
Important Guidelines • Punctuality: Players must arrive 15 minutes before their match time. Join the Google Meet session as instructed.
• Technical Readiness: Ensure a stable internet connection. Test your device before the match begins.
• Respect and Behavior: Be respectful toward all participants and organizers. Use professional language during matches and meetings.
